My Say In the Matter, a pro-bodily autonomy charity anthology is out today! Along with my short story: Firebird! I’ll probably write a more in depth post about this story, what it took to write it, and why it means so much to me, but for now, go buy it!

When a cyborg and an energy spirit meet, they learn they have a lot in common including: being someone else’s experiment, severe trauma, and a long kill list. However, when the only way to get their revenge is to literally become one, is revenge worth the loss of their identity? Or is this the only way they’ll ever feel whole?

This story is primarily about the horrors of forced creation (whether that be through birth/body modification/social pressures) and the violence we sometimes have to commit to recreate ourselves. 

As an agender person, my feelings towards my physical form range from ambivalent to hateful and this story allowed me to express and explore some of those thoughts, especially when your body was never truly yours. 

Finally, it’s about the connections we make that can help us reclaim who we truly are and offer us an escape from the hell others have put us in. 

I’m so grateful my friend @/EzraArndtWrites allowed me to take part in crafting this anthology and helped me introduce Grigori, Ruslan, and Mara to the rest of the world. This story means the world to me and I’m glad it’s part of an anthology were all proceeds will go to Abortion Fund, to help in the fight for abortions for all peoples. Also huge shout out to @/warickaart for the amazing story header art.
